Located near the halfway point between San Antonio and Laredo on I-35, Cotulla [how to pronounce] has been home to several notable residents including Lyndon Baines Johnson and short story author William Sidney Porter, better known as O. Henry.
The town of just under 4,000 residents is a center for the area’s cattle and sheep ranching industries and is a popular hunting destination. Cotulla is also a popular stop for many Winter Texans. In recent years, an oil production boom in La Salle County has swelled the town’s population.
